Helping the Homeless

Would you like to get involved?

Would you like to get involved in a project that does something practical to help homeless people in our area?

Here at St Ann’s we have 2 projects which do just that.

Monday Food Run to London

Every week a team of volunteers takes sandwiches, biscuits, cake and fruit up to London where it is distributed by The Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa working with homeless people living on the streets in London.

Donations of food come from parishioners and are left at the presbytery on Mondays – up to 6pm.  Loaves of sandwiches form the bulk of the food and we have pledge to provide at least 20 loaves every week.  This is supplemented by individually wrapped biscuits (e.g. Kit-Kat, Penguin, Twix etc.), individually wrapped portions of cake and fresh fruit.

If you would like to become involved please contact Flick Saunders homeless1@stannsbanstead.org.uk

Leatherhead Night Hostel

Another group of volunteers regularly provide a hot meal each Saturday evening and the 4th Tuesday each month.  This is done on a rota basis with volunteers cooking in their own homes and transporting the meal to Leatherhead where it is distributed by the Night Hostel staff.
