Holy Communion

Registration

If you are 7 years old in September (school year 3) then you are eligible to register for our parish First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion programme.

Children’s Sessions take place monthly on Saturday mornings from 10.30 am to midday in our parish hall, from the beginning of October until May when the children receive our Blessed Lord in the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time.

The programme is directed by a team of lay catechists led by Rosemary Marshall, assisted by Fr Míċeál and Deacon Kevin.

Registration begins in the summer and information is published in the parish newsletter several weeks in advance.  The final date for applications is 31st July.

Preparation for First Holy Communion

The long term preparation for this meeting with Jesus has already begun with Baptism and has been encouraged and supported by you in the family. However there is need for more special, parish-based, preparation in order to continue this good work. Our team of Catechists, with the assistance of the Fr Míċeál and Deacon Kevin, will help you in preparing your child for First Reconciliation and First Communion.

The preparation programme require your child's attendance at Saturday morning sessions, your attendance at Tuesday evening sessions and family attendance at Sunday Masses. The dates and times of all these sessions and celebrations are listed below.

It is difficult to imagine that a child not attending Sunday Mass regularly at present could be ready to celebrate his/her First Communion this year.

The programme will be explained in detail to you at our first parents’ meeting in September

There is an enrolment fee of £10.00 for the programme (cheques payable to 'St Ann's Church'). Please contact Fr Míċeál if this is a problem. This goes towards the cost of books, certificates and other materials involved.

May we ask you to return this cheque, with a copy of your child’s Certificate of Baptism (if not baptised at St Ann’s) with your application form to The Parish Office as soon as possible.

If you have any questions please contact Fr Míċeál on 01737 353727
